*yesterday, my stepdad called me to tell me he and my mother reached an agreement in their divorce negotiations.
*today, my brother's fiance called to ask if i would be one of TEN bridesmaids for their wedding, scheduled for the end of June.
*in a matter of days, my mother's second divorce will be finalized.
*on sunday, my good friend meagan witt will be married.
*this summer, two other friends (both younger than me) will be getting married.
*today, i finished The Namesake, and Gogol Ganguli's wife cheated on him. they divorced.
*yesterday, one of my professors had us write about "romantic love- what is it?"
sometimes i don't want to think about such things, as it appears that "romantic love," whatever that even means, either doesn't exist or isn't all it's cracked up to be.
i don't intend to be entirely pessimistic in how i express this, after all, in facing the marriages of three friends and a brother, I wish them each a lifetime of happiness. more than that, a lifetime of mutually determined commitment. i'm convinced that's what the difference between a lifelong marriage and one that ends in divorce is all about. (on top of really knowing the person you're committing yourself to, as well as you can, for as long as you can before making that commitment).
there are so many words i could say on this topic, but i'll spare you.
in happier news, i bought a BIKE today on ebay!! it's a beauty:

there is no better way to end a post from the depths of your heart than with a picture of a basketed bike.
i love the basket bike. you should get a sun dress that goes to your knees with flowers on it, and a couple baguettes, and ride around town...town? new port. that would make a good picture. oh, and wear a headband.
on another note...great blog. jessica and justin are getting marrried in october. how old is your brother?? just curious. that's exciting. sorry about your mom...hmmm...it's crazy how easy it is for us to "commit" at this age...i wonder how i'll feel when i'm 45...can you tell that your blog has made me think??
nicely written by the way.
p.s. thanks for the bday wish. don't know if i already thanked you. i think i did.
interesting post
lovely bicycle...
