i stole this from annie*

1. What did you do 10 years ago?
summer before 7th grade...so probably playing zelda and stratego with emily every day, and crushing hopelessly on nerdy little Nick Joy.

2. Five items on your to-do list:

learn how to play guitar
play piano and harmonica simultaneously (and sound good)
write a novel
ride on a hot air balloon
move out

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?
travel! disappear and write for awhile, maybe in some small village in italy.
and help people! annonymously!

5. Places I would live:
seattle
old orange
pasadena
southern france

6. Jobs I have had:
old navy
maragarita florist
saddleback church conference helper
tully's coffee
gift wrapping at fashion island
peet's coffee

7. Bloggers I am tagging who you will enjoy getting to know better:
Tita because i think you'll actually do it,
Frank because it'd be pretty entertaining

***annie! if you're reading this: i miss you! let's hang out!

for frank and lela

i was going to disguise this post by saying it's for anyone, but really it's probably only useful to frank and lela.

remember my post about setting up a bloglines account?
if you still haven't done that, i don't know why you're wasting your life away checking blogs individually instead of this one easy site, but whatever.
if you have, and find yourself in the same boat as mr and mrs sanchez, where you and your partner share an account and fight over the new updates (bloglines shows new posts in bold, and once clicked, they are de-bold..ened), here is my quick and easy solution:
*** create separate bloglines accounts! ***

all you need is a valid second email address.
i know this appears to go against the inherent 'togetherness' of marriage and all that, but really, it is working toward unity by fascillitating your ability to take in the same materials and discuss together. instead of a night of the silent treatment because you wanted to read blythe's blog but didn't even know there was new post because your partner de-bold..ened it.

blogging etiquette

here are some basic (and hopefully obvious) rules of thumb for blogging:

*
don't post things you wouldn't want your mother to read.
or your pastor, or your ex boyfriend, or your future employer, or your dentist.
any of them can read this. it's the internet, for crying out loud.

*a blog is not a diary. obviously because all the afore-mentioned people can read it, but also in terms of content. maybe you don't care if everyone knows everything you do and say and feel, but we can all read it, and that's kind of weird. don't you think? so go easy on us when you bare your soul.

*you have a blog. I have a blog. we might even call ourselves 'blog friends,' but let's not let the fact that we read each others' blogs mean that we know each other. i don't mean to sound like anyone-over-30-i've-talked-to-about-it, who feel all this myspace/facebook/blogging gives our 'generation' a false sense of knowing/being known/relating to one another....but it is something people have voiced, and i think it's worth thinking about.
in other words: blogging is for entertainment, and only a sort of beginning to real connection. if you want to be my friend, that will require actually hanging out.

I'D LIKE TO ADD:
-this was not directed at anyone in particular
-this was not written in anger. so please don't read it as an 'angry post'
