"People Chains"

Yesterday put us in yet another crafting mood, and so I taught Sam how to make "people chains." I felt silly calling them that, but I didn't really know what else to call them, since they're not the same as 'paper chains,' but people chains sounds a bit...medieval. Oh well, Sam got the idea, so you should too.

Hanging out with kids all day every day for a month straight sure makes me feel pretty kid-ish myself, in a good way. I've been feeling more creative, more imaginative, and more consistently giggly than I have in a long time. It's a nice reminder that life doesn't have to be taken so seriously all the time.

Sam was so enthusiastic about the whole project, we made over 20 of these chains. I'm not kidding. Stephanie pretty much had to cut off the paper supply. ;)

Chronic[WHAT]cles [of Narnia]

Yesterday I ordered this book from Chronicle Books:

It will (hopefully) help me to launch at least one of my creative hobbies into a business. I would share what those ideas are, but I'm a little paranoid of someone snatching my ideas at present.
It will be made public in due time, though.

Some more reasons why...

...it is great to be here in wintery Wisconsin

Fresh homemade early-afternoon lattes (complete with latte-art),
dreaming up crafts with Stephanie,
chasing little boys around for tickle fights,
warm homemade biscuits with butter and honey,

etc
etc
etc

Jordan I wish you were here, sweets. <3

Fifteen Degree Fashion

The other day Sam and I went outside to play. Since we hoped to be out for longer than fifteen minutes, we made sure to bundle up appropriately.

And how is it done, you ask? Well, it requires a certain amount of skill. In this case, skill is measured in 7+ layers of clothing.
I'm hesitant to post this next picture, because I think I look pretty ridiculous, but I also realize it won't be quite the same without an adequate visual.

Steph said we were out for over an hour. !!
Thta's quite a feat in this weather.

After having a snowball fight, walking to the park down the street, sledding, exploring, and rescuing an abandoned snowman, we came back home and had hot chocolate and read for awhile.
There's a handful of friends stuck in California who I wish I could have rescued for the day to experience such wintery bliss.

Stefanie, parte dos

Here's the second set of my favorite shots from the Stefanie shoot. You can find the first set here.
Like I said before, this pictures are for a mock fashion lay out, and are meant to look a little more ...commercial than the photos I usually take.

An Ongoing Obsession

My aunt took me into downtown Madison last Thursday, and we walked around and shopped on State street. I made sure we stopped at one of my favorite stores from the last time I visited, called Ragstock.

The store sells a mix of old and new clothing, including my personal favorite-
vintage silk scarves.
Here are some of the scarves I've purchased at Ragstock in just two visits (this trip and my last time out here, in March of 2007).

I'm pretty much only including this next one because THREE commenters have been asking to see pictures of me, for some odd reason. So, this should appease them for a couple posts,

I'm pretty obsessed with scarves, and have been for a number of years. I probably buy a scarf on pretty much every trip I go on. I have scarves from Seattle, New York, England, Amsterdam, Italy, France, and more. I'll admit I pride myself on remembering where each scarf is from. Is that vain, or geeky? Or some combination of both?

Yesterday: Potato Stamping

Steph and I were feeling crafty yesterday and talked the boys into indulging us. We decided to carve up some potato stamps and make nifty cards and things.

I wish potatoes didn't spoil, because I'd like to hang onto these to use later.
