disney love

On Friday I got to spend a significant chunk of time with a group of significantly awesome people at a significantly 'happy place.' I know it's hard to take me completely serious when I just used the word significantly three times in one sentence, but seriously, it was great.

Jordan, Chelsea, Priscilla, Allison and I had a lovely time.

(stalker shots)
we saw a cute little duck family,
with a ridiculously scary red-eyed bird, eying the ducklings the whole time,

in line for the tea cups,
also in line was a man capturing his vacation via a fully functioning (we asked) "hat cam,"

chelsea, aboard the tea cups,
chelsea wanted to recreate a photo her mom took of her when she was 4 in front of the storybook land whale,

jordan's spiffy shot of a light in the line for Tower of Terror,

Aboard Tower of Terror,
then we went on the Toy Story ride, Midway Mania. I am always amused by this diagram of how not to sit,Allison and Priscilla (aka P-rod, aka Percy, aka Peter),

Chelsea, intimidating the little boy she was randomly partnered up with,
And finally, Allison was thrilled to find and purchase one of those mouse-shaped rice crispy pops,

that's all. It was great. :]

Some thoughts to think

I want to be invited to an "80s party" sometime soon, so I can dress like I'm from the 1880s.

Every once in awhile, I get [what I think are] brilliant ideas. I was driving a few days ago, going off on a wild thought-path (as I often do while driving), thinking about those kits to dress your cars up like reindeer around Christmastime, and it hit me-- what if you could clip a big mustache on the front of your car? A "CARSTACHE," if you will?

I think a slogan for Twitter could be: Twitter. Making stalking ridiculously easy since 2006.

I don't have dreams all that often (or at least I don't often remember them), but I had a dream two nights ago that I got attacked by a chinchilla. It jumped onto my back while I was standing upright, and bit me. I remember it appeared to only have three teeth (because after it bit my back it bit my hand), but it hurt something fierce.

Today I confirmed that I don't like surprises. At least not surprises that I know-about-but-don't-know-what-they-are (ie surprises I have to "wait to find out"). That drives me batty. Sorry Simone (who witnessed this firsthand when taking me on a "planned surprise" today, along with a group of well behaved and content-to-be-out-of-the-know people).

I went to Disneyland for a good length of time yesterday with a few friends. It was overcast, which maybe explains why it wasn't too crowded. Allison, if you're reading this, you'll have that picture of you and your mickey shaped crispy treat soon. Don't fret.

I called Jordan in my sleep this morning. It was early. woops.

I'm really, really tired. So I'll sign off now.

P.S. Remember AOL, when you actually had to "Sign off"? Oh dial up internet....no one misses you. At all.

Fit to be Tied

Corinna let me borrow her photo box, so I had a fun little photo shoot with yarn balls.
Not knowing what to do with a bunch of pictures of yarn balls, I tried adding some text to spice it up. You know, since I love art with writing/words incorporated into it.

p.s. remember how I'm not a graphic designer? No need to remind me that this is not the most impressive design/typography work, here. Just having some fun.

Happy Thursday everyone.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Remember this book? Well, turns out they're making a movie (with a few changes to the original story),

I found out about this on d.sharp journal

I stole this from Design Crush, because I find it devastatingly true. I am a person who chooses my words carefully, and aim to use words sparingly and honestly. It's been a life lesson to learn this is not the way much of the world operates.

Shannon's Graduation from Biola

Last Saturday, my best friend Shannon graduated from Biola University,
(I don't think she was intending on looking as 'triumphant' as this picture turned out, but I love it),
I'm not big on graduations, but this one actually wasn't so bad, as far as graduations go. I've always been really impressed by Biola-- the caliber of the faculty and the standards in place, so I was actually kind of excited to go to this graduation ceremony. That says a lot, as I have previously ranted about how much I hate graduations.

With her dad,
Her three brothers, whom I adore,

Her long-time friend/mentor Megan,

Shan, can you "deliver" this pic to Rachel?

I bought Shannon a small cactus instead of flowers. That probably sounds weird, and I definitely got a lot of funny looks carrying it around before and during the ceremony, but if you know Shannon, it is quite fitting. When I saw it at the store I knew immediately that she would appreciate it.

I also had fun taking pictures of it,

a blurry but a goodie,

he's just the cutest,

and one last one of Shan with a friend,

Congratulations friend. It was such a joy to be there, to celebrate with you. I'm so proud of you!!

RIP Friday

Last week was a pretty rough week, for a number of reasons. Everyone has weeks like that.
This morning I found my hamster Friday dead in her cage. I've had a scare before, since she's been known to burrow and nap for long periods of time without emerging, but somehow I just knew this time she wasn't going to get up and come out.
I know many of you have experienced greater tragedies than this, but this being my first pet, it's a really sad ordeal for me.

I bought Friday spontaneously on a Tuesday afternoon in August of 2007. She was so spunky, and full of life. She also had an adorable chipmunk stripe down her back. She was just about the cutest hamster I'd ever seen.

She was pretty timid at first, but eventually got comfortable with me. I never tried to pick her up forcibly, but she would just crawl into my hand when I put it in her cage.

She was also quite the climber. Here she is on top of her water bottle,

And she would often scale the walls of her cage. Here she is hanging from the "roof,"

Goodbye dear little friend. We had a fun run for awhile there. I hope you drifted off peacefully, in your sleep. I'll miss you.

my folk lover

Every once in awhile I find myself on a long rabbit-trail exploration of Etsy. On my most recent jaunt, I stumbled across a real gem:
As I've mentioned before, I'm a sucker for art that incorporates words/writing/books. Well, for only $15, you can buy some pretty enchanting prints and original pieces,

I also love when line drawings of houses are incorporated,

and Jordan especially likes this one,

Gentle Musings

I get sick of chewing gum really fast. After about 4 minutes, to make an approximation. My theory is that I get tired of chewing without the satisfaction of swallowing being nourished, as most chewing of food leads to. Gum is a tease that way. Bubble gum is different...

Before I get off the freeway on the way to Jordan's house, there's an awkward storing-garage-looking strip mall on the side of the freeway. Awhile ago I noticed a store within the 20+ businesses called "STUFF EVERYWHERE." Ever since, I've been dying to find out what in the world that place is about. It sounds intense.

Who came up with those toilet seat covers that are made of carpet? "Hmm, it'd be so great if we could get the toilet to blend in with the floor..."

My sister bought this new (to us, anyway) hand soap for our bathroom from Bath & Body Works called "Midnight Pomegranate."
What does that even mean? A midnight snack? Or is the word 'midnight' meant to conjure up thoughts of a sensual midnight rendez vous? If the first, I don't choose to snack on pomegranates at midnight. If the latter, pomegranates? Really? The whole thing is on par with that "SLEEP" soap.

I've never voted for a contestant on American Idol, but watching the finale last night made me wish I had voted. Not that it would have changed things, but I've never wanted someone to win as much as I did Adam. He was robbed! I guess Kris Allen is more mainstream and the people actually voting might be more his target audience. And Adam has a pretty good chance at launching his own successful career from this point.

I'm thinking about polling you the readers to find out which of my posts you find most interesting/appealing. Fashion? Photog? Random Adventures? I'll look into that...

The Union Line on Daytrotter

The Union Line's Daytrotter studio sessions are up!
You can download the 4 tunes for free!

"The Union Line, a young band from San Juan Capistrano, California, remind us of these simple pleasures as well, the delicate balance between obligation and free will, between taking and leaving...The band, with its sound rooted in the soulful rock and roll grooves of those who may or may not be god-fearing people on their own time, reaching into a feeling that connects those souls with something so naturally resounding and moving, brings out in its music a proper inspiration of gripping mortality and a denouncement of the piddling needlessness of empty, heartless efforts or existences."

Also, if you are under 21: The Union Line is playing an all ages show at The Roxy in LA next Saturday, 5/23! It's a pretty cool venue, and pretty easy to find on Sunset Blvd, so...see you there!
