Graham crackers and cart wheels

A few days ago, we made graham crackers!

Jasper, hanging out at the table with 'Jaffy' the giraffe,

remember when Sam and I made "people chains?"

practicing cart wheels before going to their tumble gym class (pictures of that soon!),

Felix started jumping up kind of randomly....maybe he saw a bug?

I asked Felix to smile for the camera, and he made this face,

finally, photos.

here's Jasper! already a year and a half since my month-long visit in January 2009,

i've been taking a lot of shots of J eating because the light is so interesting, and because this normally smiley baby gets intriguingly moody around food,

humid days = boys in underpants,

Oliver's gotten taller since my last trip,

cutie,
mint iced tea,

last night's cucumber cooler (#1 of 2...),

more to come. !!

i take your input seriously

regarding what to do about my forgotten camera, dear friends.....but I still took up Steph on her offer to pay to have my camera overnighted out here. Sweet relief! It will be in my arms this time tomorrow!

i'm all for experimentation and getting old school via a disposable cam, or even older school, being sans any-type-of-camera, but if I can remedy the situation, I will. And am! Huzzah! I am seriously suffering of a phantom limb-like disease.

I want to shoot! I want to post!

I want to show you pictures of my travels! For example, if I had had my camera today, I would have posted pictures of the delicious lunch Steph made us - chicken salad sandwiches (made with sour cream instead of mayo mixed with fresh tarragon, white wine vinegar, and sea salt) on baguettes and mint iced tea with honey and a sprig of lemon balm. I might have posted pictures from our bike ride to the nearby coffee shop (read: a picture of steph, towing Oliver and Jasper behind the bike in the burley and Felix in the mounted child seat). I most definitely would have taken and posted pictures of the little bowl of delicious homemade honey and lavender ice cream (!!) i just finished.

I also might have included pictures from the boys' frog catching shenanigans this morning, or from earlier this afternoon when we began making homemade graham crackers (and will be soon making some marshmallows to provide the most epic s'mores for tomorrow night's festivities).

sigh. it would have been quite the post, i tell you. legendary, some might say.

if you're wondering why i haven't posted anything yet...

it's because
i forgot. my. camera.

!!!

i almost cried when i realized this on the plane.
and clearly, i am out of practice when it comes to text-only blog posts.
but, in an effort to press forward, here are some

.:quick highlights:.

-chatting over Cafe Du Monde's Coffee and Chicory with Elaine and Aaron
-reaping the benefits of Elaine and Aaron's love of culinary creativity (baked salmon with whole grain mustard/white wine/sauteed jalapeno and garlic/apricot jam sauce? yes please.)
-hanging out in Wicker Park with Steph and the boys, and
-having more coffee at the Wormhole
-seeing the Heartless Bastards for free at the University with Steph (also Peter Wolf Crier and Builders & Butchers)
-seeing how much little Jasper's grown in the last several months (reeeally wish i had my camera....)

wanderlust

My friend Elaine showed me these cool travel posters from the movie Up!, and now my wanderlust spark is igniting into full blown adventure-seeking impulsivity. Well, not quite. But I am getting restless for adventure of Tustin blimp hangar proportions.

new craft

I picked up a new crafting project at st. vincent's the other day,

couldn't wait to get started,

the map (i added those little color strips to help myself out),

The cover sheet it came with (those stickers say $20 and $10 - I got it for $2!)

the colors!

a little more progress,

also,

recently scooped up some white Saltwater Sandals via ebay because I was feeling nostalgic (I had the same ones as a little Blythe). Plan on giving these lots of wear this summer.  <3
