Dressember 30th & the Dressember Dinner!

Yesterday I went with a shirt-under-dress-under-cape approach. I just got the cape at Zara a couple days ago- they're having a HUGE sale, and I love me some sales. And capes!

These are also a recent purchase- made an exchange at F21 used the store credit to score these bad boys:

And the highlight of the day: the Dressember Dinner at the Gypsy Den! Here are most of the attendees (sorry, it's not the best shot since I didn't have much room to back up to take the photo!):

From left to right: Johnny, Ashley, Jordan, Clay (face hidden), Chelsea, Beatrice, Gloria, and Melissa. Another Melissa came a little later, and Levi is hiding under the table in this picture.

From the other side of the table:

Here's little Levi:

It was so great to meet some other great bloggers- they were all so nice (not to mention fashionable!), and you should check out their blogs!

Me, Beatrice, Gloria, Melissa, and Ashley

I'm catching up on the day now, and will post today's Dressember pictures soon..... :)

Dressember 29th: New Yrs goal-setting

The internet is a strong and terrible beast, friends. I just spent wayyy too much time browsing modcloth's "Be the Buyer" section, "skipping" and "picking" dress after dress....I'm sure this makes them happy, but I have too much I need to catch up on to be spending time voting on potential items....like laundry.

Anywho. Today is Dressember 29th! The rain came back today....

...so I went with the shirt-over-dress combo for layered warmth!

I should probably invest in some plain black rain boots, just to have the option....

2011 is going to be here before we know it, and I've been thinking a lot about goal-setting. The word "resolutions" doesn't sit well with me; it sounds a bit too...airy. I like "goals." I'm going to sit down in the next couple days and write out some solid goals for myself for the next year- maybe I'll share them with you. I know one already: to savor every week, day, and month of 2011! 2010 went so fast!

Also: the Dressember Dinner is tomorrow! Let me know if you're coming! :D

Homemade Calendar

Now that Christmas has passed, I can show you the rest of the project I was itching to show you! A couple weeks ago, I spent a whole day shooting a calendar with Gina and Tony (as their Christmas present to their families). We shot the whole thing overhead looking down, and used towels, scarves, sheets, and a sleeping bag as our backdrops. We also used a whole lot of cardboard for almost all our props (including the confetti!)- Jordan helped out a lot too, as my light technician and over all energizer. :]

Here are all the images, in month-order. Click on any of them to enlarge them!

That last one's a bit of an inside joke- Gina is a hair stylist, and Tony is the drummer of The Union Line (a great band that you ought to check out right now....they just did a U.S. tour with Local Natives)! Jordan is also in The Union Line, btw....

Dressember 28th- the last time wearing this one (this month)

Day 28! Can you believe it? Only three days of Dressember left! Even if you haven't been wearing dresses all month for Dressember, wear [at least] one in these last three days of the festivities!

Doing some post Christmas shopping at Fashion Island with Jordan today:

This sweatshirt was another one of my Christmas presents from Jordan (he's an excellent gift picker!):

Loving the colors and patterns going on today:

Anyone is welcome as long as they wear a dress!
***Boys are also welcome to join us; no dresses required for them! ;)

Dressember 27th, or back to the salt mines

It seems like a crime for Monday to come so soon after Christmas- I'm back to work already, to help tear down the gift wrap store. Should be fun though, and it was something I kind of volunteered myself for.

I think I've worn this hat a total of three times now. I like it a lot, and Jordan told me it's his favorite one I own, but, you know, hats. Most of the time they just don't seem to work. Or you have to just get past that feeling and just wear the dang things. Is it just me?

The key to re-wearing the same seven dresses all month = layering.

I got a spiffy new purse from my sister for Christmas!

And a necklace from Jordan- it's a really light green stone:

And cute new shoes from Jordan! It might be hard to tell here, but they're a really pale pink, and they match my dress perfectly:

No time to chat very much-- off to work! Have a great Monday!

Dressember 25th & 26th and Merry Christmas!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was great! We woke up at 8 to have breakfast as a family and then open gifts- I got some awesome gifts this year, including the laptop case from Krochet Kids I put on my wish list!

For the day's outfit, I wore one of my favorite stylings from last Dressember (click here to see it). It makes me feel like an old school flight attendant or something.

I amused myself (and my family) for a bit by riding around on the new Razor scooter I won from a giveway on Suzanne Broughton's blog a little over a week ago (it arrived on Christmas eve!). It's so much fun! I plan to keep it in my car and use it on the long walks from my car to class once school starts up again.

The weather's back to normal, it seems- although it rained a bit more last night.

I decided to do some pattern mixing with this outfit- mainly to spice up this yellow dress that's starting to look the same (to me) every time I wear it:

I bought this crocheted bow headband from Beatrice- isn't it sweet?

[dress- dressing clio via buffalo exchange | cardigan- target | blue shirt- hand-me-down from jordan
belt- thrifted | leggings- f21 | boots- urban outfitters
necklace- my grandma's | bow headband- dear beatrice]

That's all for now- I'm pretty exhausted from the last few days (and weeks)' festivities!

Dressember 24th!

Today is Dressember 24th, but more importantly, it's Christmas Eve! I don't know about you, but my family does most of our Christmas-y stuff on Christmas Eve. A big dinner with the whole fam and then a candlelight service at church. Christmas Eve is the best. Tomorrow morning will be present time, and then we don't really do anything all day- maybe some bocce ball depending on the weather, but more likely just some R&R- which will be soo nice after a pretty hectic week!

So, Christmas Eve. Guess who has to work today? Meeeeeee,

But I'm off at 3-ish, so all is fine and dandy.

Tried something new by putting the self belt over the vest. I like it. What do you think?

I'm channeling Beatrice with my pins today (she's got an amazing collection of pins and brooches):

[dress- f21 | coat- anthropologie | tights- f21 | vest- target

Succulent Trees

Holy toledes I love this! My friend Ryanne saw it on the Hostess with the Mostess blog and thought of me- rightly so, because I LOVE these beauties! if you don't believe me, click here and you'll be taken to all my posts about them.

Succulents = amazingawesomeness

The idea of sculpting them into a tree boggles my mind and I wish I'd thought of it first! ;)

Dressember 23rd, or Christmas Eve Eve

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Well, it looks like the rain has reached some sort of cease-fire. Whew. We're all happy about that, I think. I'm at least happy about getting a break. It's just so frightening to drive in it.

Anywho. I scrambled to finish up some last minute gift shopping last night, and had great luck. Then I went to gift wrap and wrapped a pair of $1300 Jimmy Choo boots.

Here's today's look, sans Jimmy Choo's ;)

A colorful approach today! Amy said I look Anthropologie. Blaire said I look like someone in Jurassic Park. I'll take both. ha.
