Alexa Chung for Madewell, Fall 2011
Alexa Chung's done it again; her latest collaboration with Madewell has me swooning-- and I'm sure I'm not alone. The collection is a fresh take on vintage styles, chock-full of artistic touches, like painterly flower prints, and intricate detailing, like pretty laces and romantic pleats. It's well suited for this fall's trends, and yet it simultaneously boasts a timelessness that ensures any of these pieces the ability to carry over past this season as staple pieces in a lifelong wardrobe.
Take the blouse below; the peter pan collar, streamlined fit, and the mini dot pattern make this a classic go-to piece for fall and beyond. Pairing it with '70s inspired, high-waist, exposed button fly corduroy shorts mixes multiple vintage eras and makes it a fresh and timely look for fall.
The dress below is one of the most covetable pieces, in my opinion. Its loose fit, full skirt, and abundance of pleats makes it a romantic and fun piece for almost any occasion. The burnt sienna color is perfect for fall and winter (the dress is also available in a bold "Siberian Red").
I've taken time to rave about a couple of my favorite pieces, but the rest of the collection is just as noteworthy. Here are a few more I have on my wishlist:
View the entire collection here, and let me know your thoughts! I'd love to hear what your favorite pieces are.

My week (last week)
This past week was a good, but crazy week. It started on Monday with Blaire's birthday surprise scavenger hunt at Disneyland:
I love Disneyland's hedgery:
And all their pretty signage:
Then Tuesday was my birthday, so I made sure to have my favorite meal ever for brunch: EGGS BENEDICT (avocado instead of ham for me):
That night, I celebrated with friends at Mi Casa, a Mexican restaurant that is also nicknamed "the house of cheese" (!!):
I got these leopard leggings, oversized oatmeal colored sweatshirt, and bow ring from Forever 21 (for less than $30!):
I also nabbed these pear high-waisted shorts from anthropologie on sale for $19.99:
You might be waiting to hear what was so "crazy" about my week (since I called it good and crazy in the first sentence of this post); well, I also moved from Orange County to LA.
The photo above is my little car stuffed with what I had hoped would be the last load of my belongings to move to LA. Alas, I have one more trip to make. The house is being tented for termites tomorrow, so I'll be able to get my remaining belongings later in the week. I'm still on the hunt for an apartment, and in the meantime I'm staying with my brother and his wife in east LA.
Last night was my first night officially moved, and my sis-in-law Liz and I celebrated by playing scrabble. I won. I have to revel in it because I think this might have been the first (and maybe last time) I've beaten her at anything.
I'd like to thank "QUICHE."
Hope your week was great!

[I wore a new chambray dress by C.O.P.E. from urban outfitters and a wood necklace
from the long beach flea market. The paper flower pin was a gift
from my friend Simone that she found on etsy]
Later in the week, I took myself shopping with some of the gift cards I got for my b-day...

The last couple days...
Sorry I've been MIA! Life has been crazy busy, and all I've been doing is packing and sleeping in my spare time.
I worked on a Skechers shoot yesterday-- here's a couple shots from that:
I worked on a Skechers shoot yesterday-- here's a couple shots from that:
[we shot inside Voyeur, a club in West Hollywood]
[cute heart top from H&M that got used for one shot-- only $12.95]
[met up with girl Jordan, my soon-to-be-roomie, at In-n-Out before our day of apartment scouting]
[one of the apartments we decided against was super cute from the outside and not-so-great on the inside]
[pretty Jordan sitting outside another place we decided against]
[car. eyelashes. whaaaat?]
[yummy white sangria at El Grande Orange Cafe at the Pasadena train station]
[got back into MV and it's still SUPER HOT. 80 degrees at 9pm?!]
[the Bensimons for Madewell that I ordered on ebay arrived today! Love 'em!]
That's all for now! Hope your week is going well!
