About Dressember

In 2009, I decided to wear a dress every day in December and post the photos on my blog. I called it Dressember. The first year was just something fun I created as a personal challenge. Here's a link to all my Dressember posts.
In 2010, its 2nd annual run, I extended an invitation to anyone and everyone to join in on the festivites, and had around 25 girls around the world take up the challenge. The 2011 Dressember festivities grew to include over 50 women internationally, many of whom I didn't know personally. This 4th year, in 2012, is its biggest year yet. In just the first few days, I've lost count of how many are participating, but based on instagram alone, it's well over 100! It's not too late to join, so you should!

Dressember is a month of dresses! The rules of Dressember are simple: wear dresses all month (with the exceptions of pajamas when you're sleeping, working out, doing housework, and if/when your job requires you to wear pants). You're allowed to repeat dresses. You're allowed to wear skirts, but only over dresses.

Take a picture of yourself in your dress each day, and post the pics to your blog, instragram, or Facebook. This is largely on the honor's system, so no taking multiple pics of yourself on the same day and then prancing around in pants the rest of the month! That would be cheating. Duh. Besides, you'd be missing the spirit of Dressember: reclaiming/embracing/celebrating femininity! And just having fun.

Beatrice was so kind as to start up a flickr group for us last year, so if you're on board, check that out!

In 2009, I wore a different dress all 31 days (had no idea I had so many dresses until doing so). In 2010, I took it up a notch and wore the same 7 dresses repeatedly throughout the month, styled in new ways. With 31 days, each of the 7 dresses was repeated either 4 or 5 times. Last year, I wore whatever I felt like, often repeating dresses. In 2012, I'm wearing the same dress all month (I bought 3 "copies" of the same basic, black dress from H&M).

If you are participating, feel free to help yourself to any of my Dressember graphics/headers.
Happy dressing!! :]
